Homemade Smoky BBQ Sauce Recipe

This BBQ sauce is delicious. We use it for everything now. It is easy to make and perfect if you don't want to run out of the store to buy some, or even if you are meal planning. Maybe this recipe is something you want to meal plan to make, to go along with your meals this summer.

I buy store-brand ketchup for recipes like this one. Where you aren't just tasting the ketchup but all the seasons, and flavors, that liquid smoke in particular.

The only brand name ingredient I used in this recipe was the liquid smoke, which was from Cabelas, and only because that's where it was bought. We don't necessarily purchase brand-name anything in this house.
What you need:
- 1 1/2 cups of ketchup
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 2 tbsp of Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/4 cup of white vinegar
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp liquid smoke – we buy from Cabelas
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp table salt
- 1 tbsp onion powder
How to make Smoky Bar-B-Que Sauce
Mix everything together in a small saucepan.
Simmer on low for about 10 minutes. Remember, tomato-based products make a splattering mess if you let it get to a boil, even a slow, early boil.
Pour into a jar, and keep in your fridge for up to 2 weeks.
