This is a simple seasoning that can make your bagels pop!

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 3 tablespoons black sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 2 tablespoons onion dried minced
  • 2 tablespoons garlic dried minced
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sea salt

How to make Everything Bagel Seasoning

You can toast your sesame seeds, this step is totally optional though.

In a small, dry skillet, on medium-low heat, add the white and black sesame seeds. While constantly moving the seeds around, toast the seeds for 1 to 2 minutes being careful not to burn them.

Add the toasted sesame seeds to a small bowl.

Add the poppy seeds, onion, garlic, and sea salt to the bowl with the sesame seeds. Mix well.

You can make this seasoning up ahead of time, increasing how much you use of each ingredient, and store it in a mason jar with a tight-fitting lid.

How to Use Everything Bagel Seasoning

Follow our bagel recipe to make your own bread machine bagel recipe bagels.

Once you have shaped your bagels, and have let them rise, you can add an egg yolk wash over the top of the bagels. I use an egg yolk and a little water for my egg yolk wash.

Now sprinkle on some everything bagel seasoning that you made. The egg wash is the glue holding the seasoning on.
